Personal Development

We aim to grow our girls into sensible and confident young adults who are not only able to make reasoned and sensible decisions but are also able to participate fully in and contribute positively to life in modern Britain

Our coherent Personal Development programme now meets toolkit expectations for character, citizenship, equality and online safety. PSHE/RSE is sequenced across Y7–11 responding to the contextulised needs of our students. Personal Development and well-being was a key focus with the introduction of Academic mentoring time and assembly programme, House system and PSHE into the curriculum in 2023-2024 along with the revision of enrichment systems. Enrichment and educational visits are mapped to ensure breadth and progression, alongside co-curricular House competitions and events, nurturing pupils talents and interests.

Over 50 employer/university links provide authentic experiences; careers education meets all Gatsby Benchmarks. The in-depth careers programme supports students within their next steps of their education, 99.6% of school leavers with sustained destinations. Student leadership (Senior Student Leadership Team, form representatives, prefects and mental health ambassadors) builds agency and voice. Well-being is addressed through mentoring, counselling access, and curriculum content on health and well-being including healthy relationships and digital citizenship.

The Personal Development Programme encompasses the following strands:

  • Academic mentoring including the assembly programme

  • Spiralled PSHE curriculum

  • Personal Development Events

  • Enrichment Programme including clubs, educational visits, House events and other calendared events

  • Leadership opportunities including Form reps and student voice, Prefects and SSLT
